What's ironic is that should get that mainline interview (which considering the supply/demand future he eventually will), he'd likely blow it anyway as a major focus of interviews is attitude about your present job. In his case, he could only play it two ways - be honest about how he hates his job and company and come across as someone they would pass on or lie in the hope he could hide the truth about his attitude. The first tack is a guaranteed failure, so I suppose his only chance is to hone his skills at misrepresentation.

You're 100% correct. W/AA, attitude is the key. The AA interview is as laid back as a interview can be. A conversation to get to know "Joe Pilot". Nearly everyone interviewed is hired. I can't freak'n wait!!!
