It will be interesting if they do go to Atlas. The president of 1224 is an Atlas guy. All of this letter of commitment stuff can influence where the planes go. The way it is now, Atlas has a natural advantage over ABX just looking at pilot pay rates. According to some reports, this letter of commitment prevents ABX pilots from negotiating a competitive positioin which almost ensures they planes will go to another carrier. If that other carrier happens to be Atlas... This letter of commitment could end up being a deterrent that will prevent ABX from being able to compete in this marketplace. In other words, the letter of commitment could actually lock ABX into an unfavorable position so that the other carriers can scavage their work while everyone looks like a white knight.
