When you first enter a hotel room, don't put your suitcase on the bed or floor. Go to the bathroom and put them in the bathtub.

Go to the bed and remove the main covers and pull up the sheets near the head of the bed by the wall. Pull up the last sheet and check for feces left behind by bedbugs and the actual bugs themselves.
