You have to challenge yourself to get better. If you aren't confident flying a jet at 250/3000 fpm with a plane full of families, it's going to be an easier transition flying a twin piston in real IMC doing 180/1000fpm. Some people can't make the leap from flying a c-172 to a full type in a jet and that's FINE. Don't set yourself up for failure. Get some IFR stick time in a twin. Scare yourself a few times...the boxes don't care.
