Slightly off top question. Is there some sort of rule where an employee who comes up with a cost-saving measure gets some percentage of the money saved?

I've been told our paper weight and balances were created by an exceptionally sharp employee, and he gets some percentage of the money they've saved now. Kind of neat if it's true.
