The thing with this is, mgt at every airline knows this to be true. But they are hyper focused on numbers and stock prices. So none of them want to be first. Because if they are, but then say DL is able to make it work the old way, there is a huge cost advantage which wall st. won't like and then there goes the stock price, which is usually what is tied to corporate compensation. Now if they all do this, it'll be fine. But trust me, none of them want to be first. Doug Parker hardly seems like an innovator to me. He'd be perfectly content to leave the pilot group(s) at the new AA as fractured as they are as long as it makes money.
