Your suitcase (rollaboard) will need wheels and a bag hook; I have the 737 Stealth LuggageWorks bag and it is great! Its expensive but is a TANK; it will last a long time, especially if you commute. Travelpro is junk, stay away from it. You're living out of your suitcase half (or more) the month..spend wisely.
The same can be said about your flight case. If you get a flight case with wheels it will not fit properly in the CRJ's bag well beside your seat. You can spend nearly $400 on a super-nice leather Scott bag that will last a couple decades, or you can spend $40 and get a cheap Office Depot chart case that will last you at best a couple years. I found the PNT Split-Top leather bag to be a good compromise; it works nice and has a ton of room, but is an inch or two taller than the nylon, vinyl or premium leather bag and the flap rubs against the lower circuit breaker panel when I open it.
