There is and I used it many years ago. I bid vacation to cover a portion of my military leave at my first airline. The bidding rules were much more favorable then and I could turn seven days of vacation into 19 days off with pay. I could also split my vacation (four weeks worth) into two-week or one-week blocks. On occasion, my AT periods were more than 15 days. When that was the case, I didn't use vacation.
However, that is the choice of the crew member and not the company's. If a company tries to "persuade" you to use vacation to cover military leave, they are likely doing something illegal.
