QFE. Do this, and you'll be fine. One guy in my class was panicking because his IOE instructor was constantly chewing his butt (not a good thing) and this guy was a pretty sharp but cocky kind of personality. The first piece of advice I gave him was to shut his mouth and EVEN IF HE DISAGREED with the instructor, to simply acknowledge what he said and do his best to implement what the instructor said. I also told him to ask questions "how would you do this..." and "what do you think about _____"

Lo and behold, things went perfectly fine from there.
