Most carriers have a matching program. Say the carrier requires 4500 hours in order to be PIC. They may match your time to say, 1500 hours so in reality, you would need only 3000 ACTUAL hours before an upgrade. If you have over that AND 1000 hours of 121 time, I would say your upgrade would be pretty quick at the right airline.
