I was in the middle of systems training with a former 121 company when i got called into HR to discuss my background. She started off by asking if there was anything i forgot to disclose on my app. The app did state that it was only up to 10 years also. I honestly said i don't know what it could be. She went on to say that there was some information in my background check that i need to disclose to her. Its very unnerving sitting in her office with the DO and trying to explain something that happened back in 1988. 20 something years ago!!! I wanted to say to her "Are you *******ing kidding me"? I was 18 years old at the time and more than 20 years ago. It was a minor misdemeanor of disturbing the peace. I had to jump through so many hoops after that. She also said that because i did not disclose it calls into question my integrity. I should have told her to go F herself and walked out.

So, my advice is to disclose any and all no matter how long ago it was. They will run a background check that will go back as far as your first offense. Have a really good explanation and take responsibility for what you did and also how it has changed your life for the better.
