I get it though, it's easy to go to Mesa! Weren't you at RAH before? Your decision making skills are in question! BTW we don't care about your quick upgrade! We do care that these companies pull the ENTIRE airline industry down and that includes mainline, you guys would love the opportunity to fly bigger and bigger equipment for your current wages.... remember when regionals were only turbo prop? Before you know it 737's and A320's will be added to your certificate! When you guys get to mainline are you going to suddenly have a change of heart and fight to protect scope or are you going to continue to say it's out if your hands, that's managements decision?
I do get it. And in the big picture I appreciate the point you're trying to make.
But on an individual level that's not practical. We live in a capitalist society.
What do you expect those of us here or at Republic or any one of the other regionals that you as Jvw700 don't approve of to do? Quit our jobs and suck on unemployment just hoping that no one comes and takes our spot and Mesa or Republic or whoever are forced to raise rates, etc.
Come on man, be realistic, you're living in imagination land. Mesa has a stack of apps 5 feet high right now.
This is about me and my career. The majors are about to start hiring like crazy over the next 10 years and anyway you can make your resume that much better is going to help.
And before you say, "yeah but you don't need turbine pic to get hired," your once again missing the point.
Did I say, "you know, a college degree helps but I heard of so and so get hired at a majors without one so I'm not going to go to college." No I didn't. College was just another way to make me that much more applicable for future employment.
121 PIC can go hand in hand with a college degree, sure neither may be required but both help in getting hired at a major.
I'm not going to sit in the unemployment line or in the right seat of an RJ at Skywest for 7+ years for hoping that one person will help.
Some of you guys have forgotten that the regionals are for getting in, upgrading and getting out. That model is alive and well at Mesa right now and I jumped on the ship before it left the dock.
I'm sorry that some of you have been screwed by 9/11, age 65, the recession or bankruptcies. But don't come on here and knock those of us who have or are having better luck.
