Ummmm...leave and go to another company like prior121 and I did? Go take a job doing countless other things that pay much, much more money than this?
Regionals only exist because we provide cheap high-frequency feed for mainline--anytime we try to make our payrates/contracts too close to those at mainline, we obviate ourselves out of existence.
Management knows this, ALPA knows this, and all of us know this (whether we admit it to ourselves or not): we're regional airline pilots--the only reason our jobs exist is because we are cheap.
There are some delusional people in the ranks of ALPA at the regional level who seem to have this utopian vision of regionals making ourselves as expensive as mainline, thus necessitating all of us into the fold of mainline utopia/heaven. It's simply not true, and ALPA national will never, ever let that happen.
You haven't been through a furlough or bankruptcy yet, have you? You seem very new to this industry since you seem to be very emotional about cheaper regionals getting all the flying, as if that's something new or immoral. Ha!
