Goiter really isn't much of an issue these days. Supplement with yogurt, green leaffys (soil dependent), and sushi (seaweed wraps). If you take an iodine containing multi-vitamin you'll get the RDA. To much iodine can create thyroid issues.
All processed foods use iodinated salt, not sea salt, so unless the OP is on a no salt diet vs. a low salt diet (good luck with that) there probably isn't a risk of an iodine deficiency.
Living with a Dr. of Nutrition for 20+ years, some of that stuff rubs off!
Not on a no salt diet. I just need to try to maintain less than 2000 mg of sodium per day. Not impossible, but not easy. I'm able to pack my own lunch now and limit how often I eat out. I just worry that may be more difficult living life on the road for 3-5 days at a time.
