Sailingfun and flyby, thanks for the input. QOL is important. It seems like a 4 hour direct flight to JFK or LGB wouldn't be too bad of a commute, though.

The good news is, You'll be on RSV for a short period of time before you get a line. That said, commuting sucks. Especially factoring in a two legged run. I've done two and three leg commutes and it's no fun. I added up the hours in 2007 spent just going to and from work and it came out to 28.7 days. A decade of commuting stretched my marriage to the limits, and many don't survive it. Moved to base, it's a whole different piece of pie. Life's good. It's certainly a doable thing, but it takes work!
What they said above, consider moving to where you're based or atleast will be based at some point.
