A four hour flight to work sucks. Imagine driving 30 minutes to the airport to get to the gate 1 hour prior to departure. Also you need to give yourself more than one flight. Also, assuming you're commuting to the east coast, keep in mind the time zone differences. It was a huge difference just moving from the central time zone to the time zone where my base is. I can't imagine what it would be like commuting in from the west coast. At best, you're probably on a red eye. More than likely, you're coming in the day prior. Be better on the commute home, but I don't think I could handle a cross country commute with the time changing. If your show time is 6 pm eastern, with a 4 hour flight, you're looking at a 12-1 pm EST departure at the latest. So, that's 9-10 am on the west coast (assuming I didn't jack the math up). So, at the gate about 8-9 am for a 6 pm show? No thanks.
