You generally have no leg to stand on with TSA. Most of their SOP is SSI and not available for even us to look at. It varies from airport to airport.
One of the more universal rules is that in order to get crewmember privileges like liquids/gels, you need to be in uniform.
Some places let out of uniform crew precheck, others don't. A good idea would be to sign up for precheck as a regular passenger and put the info in your employee travel profile so you have it on your boarding card too. That generally smooths things a little.
