Stephen Udvar-Hazey, probably the world's leading expert on aircraft leasing, is on the BOD of SkyWest, Inc., which also claims itself to be an aircraft leasing company. While not all of these orders may be flown by SkyWest, Inc. subsidiaries, they very well could be leased to other operators as a source of positive revenue. As for the other two airlines with significant orders, perhaps they too see the value in either holding a spot in line, getting into the leasing game themselves, or these companies CEOs know something you're not privy to.
