Default Regional airline orders of larger jets

Browsing Wikipedia, several regional airlines have put in orders for larger regional jets including the E175-E2, MRJ90, and Bombardier CSeries.

CS300 Orders

RAH - 40

E175-E2 Orders

SkyWest - 100
Trans States Holdings - 50

MRJ90 Orders

Trans States Holdings - 50 (+50 options)
SkyWest - 100 (+100 options)

What's troubling is that each of these is larger than the current scope limits of the regional industry. Though negligible, the E175-E2 has added a row for up to 88 passengers. I could see that being remedied with a larger first class section, but what about the MRJ90 and CS300? The MRJ90 is meant for 92 pax while the CS300 doesn't even pretend to be a regional jet: 130 seats in a 2-class configuration.

What do these companies know that we don't? Is there an expectation of substantial scope relief to a degree of confidence so high they're already purchasing larger jets? Reading one article about SkyWest's MRJ order suggests just that.

I really doubt Skywest will ever see the MRJ. Prob will just lease the planes out if they are ever delivered. Most likely the orders will be canceled due to delays or just take over by the leasing company owned by steven f udvar hazy who happens to be on the board of Skywest.

You'd know the answer to this if you'd gone to the ALPA meeting today, slacker.

Regional X gets large RJs with relaxation of scope for a healthy increase in wages, regional pilots can't move on, Regional X becomes too senior and too expensive, so they are whipsawed against another company leveraged with a new aircraft order, pilots rush to this company for a quick upgrade, rinse wash, repeat. The only thing that can (and hopefully will) prevent this death spiral is not budging one inch on scope.

We are approaching a very interesting and critical point in the industry; any further relaxation of scope, and I mean one seat/pound, even if exclusively for existing aircraft (slippery slope; think wolf in sheeps clothing) will DESTROY this career forever. That you can count on.

Sadly Bombardier CS100 FTV#4 was in Indianapolis at the RAH hanger yesterday. There is a press release about it on Bombardiers website.

I really don't have a good excuse other than I thought they'd call me by late afternoon like they've done every other day on reserve so far. Can you fill me in on that or any other juicy info?

Stephen Udvar-Hazey, probably the world's leading expert on aircraft leasing, is on the BOD of SkyWest, Inc., which also claims itself to be an aircraft leasing company. While not all of these orders may be flown by SkyWest, Inc. subsidiaries, they very well could be leased to other operators as a source of positive revenue. As for the other two airlines with significant orders, perhaps they too see the value in either holding a spot in line, getting into the leasing game themselves, or these companies CEOs know something you're not privy to.

Eh, I'm tired. Or maybe your response came through while I was typing mine. Also, you said the leasing company owned by him, but SkyWest is also it's own leasing company. Anyways, semantics. Sorry for the rehash.
