Unions are supposed to stand for solidarity, given the main tool of the union is dead because of the NMB and RLA. Seeing the epic fail, in ALPA supporting PSA's and PDT's contracts, while other airlines of the same union are fighting for better contracts, shows the complete break down in solidarity. I saw first hand at my old company how ALPA screwed us over in a merger. Mainline or not ALPA has no ones interest in mind except that of their own. Until there is solidarity and a union that supports that, it will always be managements will.
The RLA actually helps out incredibly. ALPA will never campaign against it, because it would destroy collective bargaining - much worse than the regional whipsaw could.
