I think they're back due to attrition. The busy holiday season is coming up and this place is shrinking faster than they want. We've lost well over 80 guys in the last month alone and almost everyone I talk to that isn't within 2 years of flowing is working to get out of here. PSA and PDT can only grow so fast.
I think they are losing control of the shrink and that's why they are back.
There is no way they could hire and train enough to have any significant effect on staffing in time for the holiday season.
For people to want to come work here there are things that MUST happen, one is new aircraft on property (not a promise, it needs to be tangible airframes). Another is cessation of pullback. Nobody wants to work somewhere being chased by displacements and base closures. And lastly, the flow MUST work. New airframes and stable bases are meaningless unless there is upward movement.
Overall, staffing may be a concern, but there's no quick solution.
