New hires either relocate to yip or get some kind of crashpad. Preferably with other non sched guys. Typical airline crash pads aren't really set up for guys who sit on 24hr reserve for 5 days between trips. About 35-40% of the seniority list commutes but you are right it is not a very commutable job.
