National meddling is what caused the American pilots to leave ALPA in 1963 - I don't believe the lesson is lost on anyone. "Meet and confer" all you want.
Correct and lets look at the Pinnacle or the Piedmont deal. Both many regional and mainline pilots argue National should have stepped in and stopped.
Frankly local autonomy (A MEC's right to choose its own path) was honored here. If anything, it proves that National can advise but it cannot dictate, even to our own detriment.
