Default Volunteer work

I had a few questions that I was hoping to get a little guidance on. When listing volunteer work on a resume is it better to include bullet points explaining what you did while volunteering or just listing the organization under say, affiliations? Also, I have got multiple opinions regarding work experience on my resume.
Some say to just list the airline, position and dates. This cuts out the bullet points of listing F/O duties etc. Others say list it. The argument being that airlines know what you did as an FO and the other that they want to see something there. Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks!
