Good info. Another possibility, supposing for example you're IAD based the 31st and DFW based starting the 1st, is to ask Crew Line Adjustments to assign you to DFW on the 31st and use your preceding days off to move.
Bid the IAD->DFW TDY and you'll already be in DFW the whole month of December (with tons of per diem and a paid hotel room).
