I agree that a regional is a bad place to work forever however there are solutions in other industries.

What amazes me is plumbers are contractors and don't have this problem of whipsaws. They don't whipsaw each other because no matter who you work for, pay is based off of experience. The longer you are a plumber the more you are paid. Set pay no matter where you work. One list, one union, one pay rate. So if this was applied to the regionals, every Comair pilot and Eagle pilot that was rehired at another regional would be paid what they were before. That would kinda defeat the whole purpose of the whipsaw unless the regionals could get enough new regional airline pilots off the street to replace all of them. With the new 1500 hour rule and 1000 121 time to upgrade it would definitely slow down the airlines from whipsawing. Never gonna happen though.
