They should still be pursued by applicants, but they're not a magic bullet and should be included in your well-diversified application "portfolio" alongside job fairs and gobs of flight time. Being a son/daughter and/or former intern is a big bonus.

Where is this "portfolio"? How do these job fairs and meet and greets get scored? Do they go through a back door and have your name in some cabinet somewhere... Airlineapps has no idea if you go to a meet and greet or a job fair.
