Definitely worth it to get the type. Even if you decide not to use it later, it's great resume fodder, even for 121 work. Some of the guys I deployed with in the BACN were able to VSP and roll straight into a left seat Global PIC job starting at $150k+/yr. Live anywhere. Two weeks on, two weeks off type of schedule. There are also several options in the Dallas area. I hear the Texas Instruments Global Express gig is a pretty sweet deal. (i.e. high pay and home a lot). There is also plenty of good contracting gigs in the Global. As for me, even though I have the type and absolutely loved flying the Global, I'm choosing the airlines.
