From what I heard United is trying to buy any 737s they can find.
Additional 737's or Airbuses would not give the company the ability of outsourcing any more 70/76 flying, it has to be a NEW narrow body. The company approached our MEC to see if we would sign off on 737-500's or Airbuses in lieu of something NEW. Though the pay rate on these airplanes is better than the E190, my position is that if they need more 70/76 then we have the pilots to fly them at mainline.
