Open skies is what allowed this company to become what it is today. The routes that were acquired with the Tiger deal leveraged with open skies is the reason we were able to grow so much in the 90's. If you look at the seniority list almost 2/3's of the pilot force where hired since 95. Open skies is why we have a job. No surprise that the suits support it.

Not exactly true. Tigers had routes that were awarded with the Marshall Plan at the end of WWII as well as 5th Freedom rights, which allowed flights through NRT. This is why FDX purchased Tigers and is why FDX international expanded post 1989. FDX is still not permitted to fly cargo within a Country. For example FDX cannot pick up Freight in CGN and fly it to MUC or TXL, only through freight is allowed not origination freight. We cannot fly freight inter France out of CDG. That freight is flown by Contract Pilots who are EU citizens. What countries will benefit more from open skies?? Is flying anywhere within Japan, France or Germany more valuable than allowing a foreign carrier to fly anywhere within the US, or allowing a Foreign carrier to Stop in the US and fly on to another Country? Many foreign Airlines are State owned or state subsidized.
