I think the first moment I heard of this I thought like others this was about bmi and having a healthy bmi, but the moment they said losing weight was not a faa approved solution then it became apparent their focus is not on flight safety or health but rather surgeries. Even if those surgeries have not proven themselves to be an effective solution. For some weight loss is a solution, for some it's not but I doubt removing parts of your throat (in some cases) is wise.

But of course this is the faa that requires me to wear glasses with a combined vision of 20/15.
