Sucks for all involved but just curious how that happens and first responsibility is the crew member of course but the company doesn't have an alerting system on crew member certificate dates?
Yes, they do. Crew Quals sends out an email about a month out as a reminder. Supposed to have it in by the 25th of the renewal month. Above all else it is the pilot's responsibility to stay on top of it.
