Mostly because legacy pay has caught back up to UPS/Fedex if not exceeded it. They were the hot carriers for the lost decade. Not so much today. UPS in particular couldn't close on the TNT, lost postal contract to Fedex, and runs the place like a trucking company. No new planes on order and the last two classes were sent packing home after they gave their 2-week notice to previous employers. And the bottom 100 guys are furlough fodder for management negotiating tactics against the IPA. FedEx appears to be much better but with a FDA and limited retirements who knows how long one would be stuck with just all night schedules. These two used to be tier 1 carriers. Now that's not the case with the three legacy airlines paying what they are and the amounts of movement/retirements coming up. FedEx is smart though because they realize that and have dropped the TPIC requirement as a result.
