I think you answered your own question. It isn't Part 117 that is more tiring it's that you are now working to the FAR limits wheras before you were not.

I was working to the definition of the FARs before and now during Part 117 and the new rules IMO are way better than before. The only drawback is no more 30/7 limits, but then again some commuters prefer that.
