The computer has canned routes for both international and domestic, from which the dispatcher evaluates and inserts after weather, aircraft and crew limitations and restrictions (if any). But one YOU get "the release" it is up to YOU (as PIC) to review all the pertinent data in "the package" and agree to accept it or not. On international routes things like "tracks", route weather, crew coordinated activities and so on are to be reviewed and briefed.
All of this is before you even block out of the gate. By NOT doing so opens yourself up to liability if "something happens".
I really shouldn't even have to say this all over but it is really what we are required TO DO and SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING this whole time.
So....I'm NOT talking about permission to "wipe" or "pee" its about doing your job. Read the FM. It's there.
So, if the FM has quotes out of "Mein Kampf" are you blindly going to follow it? Or are you going to use your brain for something else?
