A lot of the news I read over here is themed around reducing our dependence on Express carriers. I imagine there is some serious number crunching and discussions up in Chicago regarding the value United as a brand gets from cheap labor and reliability issues vs doing it on their own and possibly improving the overall travel experience.
Regardless of who flies the 175s in the future, the easiest way to improve the overall travel experience would be to get rid of these back-breaking slimline seats. Deadheads over an hour on those seats are worse on my back/neck/tailbone than many "legitimate" OJIs.
