One good thing about this job is that one man's trash is another's treasure. If we all liked the same flying, there would be far more gnashing of teeth.
However, bump your layover times up another 4 hours and I think you'd get at least a 50/50 split on opinions. String 3 to 4 of those ~24-ish hour layovers back to back and I'll take a 16 hour layover (over a ~24 hour) on one or two of them ANYTIME. Sleep hard once and back to it.
Busboy is right. Many, many times I've slept great for 10 of the 24 hours and then found myself staring at the ceiling rolling "snakes-eyes" on the nap waiting for the alert call. More is not always better, IMO.
