When you take a job at a night cargo operation you can pretty much give up on sleeping during a normal cycle. You can't have it all. If you want to sleep on the right side of the clock, go to United. I agree with what you are saying about sleep cycles. There isn't a universal solution, I'll take my chances on a longer layover that I can get a nap in.

One good thing about this job is that one man's trash is another's treasure. If we all liked the same flying, there would be far more gnashing of teeth.

However, bump your layover times up another 4 hours and I think you'd get at least a 50/50 split on opinions. String 3 to 4 of those ~24-ish hour layovers back to back and I'll take a 16 hour layover (over a ~24 hour) on one or two of them ANYTIME. Sleep hard once and back to it.

Busboy is right. Many, many times I've slept great for 10 of the 24 hours and then found myself staring at the ceiling rolling "snakes-eyes" on the nap waiting for the alert call. More is not always better, IMO.

Tony...nice effort and reminder. I really think there should be an "eat alone" clause for the folks that decide to pick these up voluntarily.

Oh and Door, meet "Nob"
