I agree with SAAB here, that SkyWest is way ahead of MESA, Colgan, TSA and the like. However I do believe that if SkyWest does not get ALPA, then when the threat of ALPA goes away things will change. It is easy for SKW management to keep the pilot group very happy right now until the threat of ALPA is gone and then who knows what they could change.
SkyWest is a great company that doesn't need a union as bad as most because they don't treat their employees too bad but, when I think about the fact that they have standup overnights...yep they need ALPA.
They dont need ALPA. Things seem to be working for them. ALPA is not the cure all for every airline...ie southwest and alaska. Just becasue they don't have ALPA, and dont want it, doest mean they are getting shafted by management. Seems to me that they are one of a few well managed regional airlines. (no TSA is not among the few)
