When I got hired here in '07, I remember seeing some pilots at the sort that looked like they escaped from a retirement home. When I referenced the seniority list, and looked at some the DC-8 FEs dates of birth, I almost fainted. There were some guys that were born from 1930 to 1932. You guys can do the math. The simple fact is that some guys will never leave, unless they are forced to retire. With age 65 and no more Engineer seats, that would be most guys at Brown IMHO.
LOL, some truth in that, for sure. Personally, I would not really stay longer just to **** somebody off, no worries Archie ;-)
There is a bit of a difference between the now over 60 crowd and the PFE's though. Many of them were on about their 12th airline, and making a whole lot less dinero here than the current crop of over 60 capt's, and the retirement then was significantly less. Hard to say how it will play out, but we'll see. I will say some of those PFE's were the most interesting group and some of the greatest guys I've ever met, though. Stories about flying with Air America, B-29's etc. were pretty entertaining, for sure.
