Eagan is definitely a family place so if you are looking for something more exciting don't live there. I am not a Minneapolis expert but just bought a house there and it seems like a cool city. If you can live near downtown there are a lot of young people down there. Even if you have to live in the burbs getting into town to good restaurants/bars/clubs isn't too difficult. I took the train in a few times in training and it was easy and pretty cheap (cheaper than driving in and paying for parking).
