Luckily the pilots have spoken, and they've spoken clearly.
My compliments to the pilots who took an informed and considered vote, in either direction. Now that it's over, I wish I could say I voted against it, and celebrate with my street creds intact, but no, I finally voted for it two days ago, ugliness and all, based on my expectation of no plan on the No side, and my expectation of a weak, inconclusive outcome that would set us back years. 65% proves me wrong once on the inconclusive part, and I sincerely hope that I get proven wrong again on no plan. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we have a bright future, and that we never regret not taking this deal.
So I'm not going to celebrate with you guys, since in the end I voted for it, but I will have a bit of a grin thinking about 65% of Delta pilots acting in concert to reject something marginal. The process actually does work. Let me also compliment the No guys who were able to discuss this with both passion and civility. The day truly belongs to you.
Couldn't agree more. I, too voted in favor of the agreement, but feel that a decisive vote either way strengthens our hand. A slim majority would have just bred more division.
Congratulations to those who prevailed.
