One interesting thing to think about, what if the "no" side (or even pro/con side) had spent 1.75 million dollars (with pretty charts!) and controlled the roadshows with full access to everywhere including crew lounges and getting chief pilots offices to remove anyone with a NO position paper and pilot email list to get their side of the story out.
The failure rate would have been much, much higher (methinks 90% to 10%). It's absolutely astounding this failed by as high of a margin as it did given the unlevel playing field and the army of guys paid to sell this. Fortunately the pilot group in the end recognized this 1975 Ford Pinto with a bent cam shaft wasn't the 2015 Corvette it was being sold as.
Had to add the part bolded.
