There is probably some truth in all of that, but the bottom line is we are just trying to make a living here. All of us. My electric bill is due on the 25th regardless of how many 90 seaters we are or are not getting. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that we should just roll over and take it in the a** from management. My complaint is the elitist mentality of alot of airline pilots.
"You young 500 hour guys are ruining it for all of us..."
That kind of comment is silly. The young 500 hour guy is just trying to make a living like the rest of us. I hate the phrase "Living the Dream". This is a job not a dream. A dream is flying low and slow over the countryside with your arm out the window on a summer evening. I am trying to earn a living here. This is what I do to feed my family. That's all. I'm not stealing anyones flying. I'm not screwing some mainline guy. I'm just going to work. That's it. All of us knew what we were getting into here and most of us fly under a CBA. As long as both the company and the pilots are adhering to the contract nobody can say anything.
Sorry about the rant, but it just seems like some guy is always telling someone else to take one for the team. I have yet to see a guy who when asked, "Why did you quit?" He said, "Well, those boys over at Northwest really took it in the shorts and I can't in good conscience continue to do this job." Not gonna happen.
Take care out there.
Hey, well said! I certainly haven't seen pilots quit there job out of protest or out of heart for other pilots who are getting screwed. If there are, its far and few.
