Neither do the people who fly the 900/190.
Did I miss some giant step in the chain of logic on this one?

*steps off the soap box*
No 500 hour pilot is EVER going to refuse to fly a jet of any size. The only pilots who have a shot at controlling this are the mainline guys...it's probably too late for 50-seat scope, but maybe they could roll it back to 69 seats? ALPA are you listening? The regional guys would mostly be OK with that cuz they don't get paid a great deal more to fly 90 seaters.

flive five RJ's in place of two 737's , I thought there was a growing airspace congestion problem that the airlines are blaming on the bizjets. hypocrites.

I was referring to the route and fleet planners at the mainline carriers. If RJs are so expensive and traffic (both cargo and pax) is growing so much, why aren't we seeing more small narrow-bodies going to mainline? I guess because the small narrow-bodies now are the CRJ-900, E175/190 which someone decided were still regional jets and snuck past the majors. That has to do with mainline pilot groups giving away the house on scope, not us regional guys.

This was directed at numb nuts. Getting CR9s at your airline is NOT good for your career progression so stop acting like it is. It may feel like growth now but in the grand scheme of things it just moved a mainline job to a regional thereby prolonging your regional career. Now, if you want to fly your CR9/E175/E190 for say, what a DC-9 driver makes then by all means. But a 3% override? Give me a break.

I just think that everyone thinks it is funny how ppl get on an RJ and then start talking so much crap about the ppl outside still trying to get in. I know the mainline guys have to get tired of listening to it.
Any one that has been around for a year or so knows better...but they have already committed their time and are not willing to change.
At this point I don't think any pilot group has enough strength left to contain the situation. Does make one wonder if SWA's success might also be tied into not selling out their route structure to a regional.

You know, I 've been doing this job for awhile now and I have been hearing the same comments for years.
"You need to stop allowing this or that...
"You people stole our flying..."
"Your pilot group should stand together to prevent this or that.."
There is probably some truth in all of that, but the bottom line is we are just trying to make a living here. All of us. My electric bill is due on the 25th regardless of how many 90 seaters we are or are not getting. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that we should just roll over and take it in the a** from management. My complaint is the elitist mentality of alot of airline pilots.
"You young 500 hour guys are ruining it for all of us..."
That kind of comment is silly. The young 500 hour guy is just trying to make a living like the rest of us. I hate the phrase "Living the Dream". This is a job not a dream. A dream is flying low and slow over the countryside with your arm out the window on a summer evening. I am trying to earn a living here. This is what I do to feed my family. That's all. I'm not stealing anyones flying. I'm not screwing some mainline guy. I'm just going to work. That's it. All of us knew what we were getting into here and most of us fly under a CBA. As long as both the company and the pilots are adhering to the contract nobody can say anything.
Sorry about the rant, but it just seems like some guy is always telling someone else to take one for the team. I have yet to see a guy who when asked, "Why did you quit?" He said, "Well, those boys over at Northwest really took it in the shorts and I can't in good conscience continue to do this job." Not gonna happen.
Take care out there.

Hey, well said! I certainly haven't seen pilots quit there job out of protest or out of heart for other pilots who are getting screwed. If there are, its far and few.
