This is dangerous to have this! That means less Captain slots. This means Mesa can run razor thin as Captains knowing they have a few PIC qualified FO's instead of paying them full time as a Captain. All they need is a line check every two years to stay qualified. Easy to do on Mesa's part. It's in the current contract and was in the contract prior to that, so unless Mesa used it during the last downgrade, it's unlikely they would do it in the future.
