As was pointed out in the road shows by one of the negotiators, a huge rainstorm must sweep over the country every May 31 and wipe away all the pollen and germs, because on June 1 of every year, the sick leave rate drops off a cliff. I don't believe the company has a problem with it being May. They just have a problem that it happens at all. As they pointed out at the roadshow, the same charts could be drawn using employment month rather than calendar month.
OK, how about a bank, getting rid of the small not HUGE "use it or lose it" crowd. I don't think the characterization of "abuse" is accurate. It seems you do. I think that's where we differ. I think this could have been done with less rewrite to sick. I also think there is a hidden agenda involving a staffing/productivity issue going forward. We will now have another chance to get it right.
