I bring up retirees because A) Rock keeps talking about newhires, and B) The Company has offered a lot of money for pilots to delay their retirement. They're offering a lot of bucks for pilots to work their butts off for their last two years and work one more peak -- it must mean a lot to The Company for those guys to remain as productive as possible and stick around through the busiest time of the year. It makes me think The Company wants them to stay.

Of course they want them to stay. As you keep saying, it's business. They'd rather pay an experienced employee to work then pay his retirement and health benefits to sit at home.
