Newbies,

I can't confirm this, but I heard a rumor that it is our interns doing the phone interviews. IF that is true, they are going off of a script of questions and I would think are not given much latitude in evaluating you. If you want to improve your chances do the following:

1. log time. Experience is king

2. Get a job, fly anything for anyone. The difference between a guy with just his ratings and somebody who is flight instructing, flew checks, site seeing, banners, whatever, is night and day. There is something about someone who has earned a paycheck as a pilot and as a 10 year captain I can spot the difference by the end of the first leg.

3. Twin time. Truth be told I don't agree with this one. VMC demo's in a jet aren't something you're going to do everyday (or ever) I'd rather have a 1,000 hour Caravan captain, but they don't ask me, and they seem to really value the twin time.

4. Don't expect anything. The people that will do the real hiring and instruction if you get the job, all had thousands of hours when they got hired here. I guarantee "damn lucky" is in the back of their minds, and if you come across like you've "paid your dues" with your 400 hour resume, you will not be received well.

Good luck
