"This thread reminds me of a great story. DAL has a former German Navy F104 pilot. He told me of a messed up two F104 over water run in on a surface contact . He was flying a 2-seat 104 and the radar operator was directing them in on this ship. They were very low (200') but still in marginal vfr. At the last second they see not a ship but a oil platform. The platform went between them as they pealed left and right. RTB, which means in this case Return To Bar. At the bar the Radar Officer was handcuffed to the brass rail, his credit card was "confiscated" and the squadron drank all night. Pit, the DAL pilot telling the story, said his squadron mate was lucky he was not beaten to death. (Hope I told it right Pit.) Sorry to all who are offended but to some professionalism is actually important."
Best story ever!
